Ok, I Take That Back!

One of those ironies of posting here…

I did manage to figure out how to take down a post without having to delete it completely.  The functions here aren’t as intuitive as eblogger.  I guess I could have just deleted the previous post altogether and none of you would have known better, but what’s the fun in that?  ;)

Given this recent technical issue, the one MAJOR positive for WordPress is it’s member’s forum.  I don’t know if eblogger has such a thing, I never really had a need for it on that site, but WordPress has a great function that allows you to discuss technical issues (or any issues, really) with fellow bloggers.  I posted my question about the ‘re-saving as draft’ and within a matter of minutes, someone answered my question.

And, I must say, I already used this forum once before in order to get my stat counter working properly.  Apparently you can’t run all or any types of stat counters on this site, and the one that they suggest using actually has a few technical work-arounds to get it going.  Thanks to the user forum I got it working!

I’ll get that pros and cons list out to you soon enough.

Hope you’re having pleasant dreams!

Resaving As Draft Is Fu-tile!

Did anyone catch that corny Star Trek reference in my title?  I don’t remember which Star Trek movie it was (Wrath of Kahn??) where someone stated, “Resistance is fu-tile”.  Yeah, I am a geek like that. :P

I’ll have to put together a comprehensive pros and cons list for all of you who are considering migrating to WordPress from eblogger or vice versa, because now that I’ve been using the tool more I am finding some significant differences.  I’ll save the list for a later post.

Tonight I discovered a major con about WordPress:  the inability to take down a post without deleting it.  Looks like once a post is published, unlike eblogger, you can’t just resave the post as a draft if you decided that you don’t want the world to see what you’ve written.  Your only option is to delete the post altogether, which in my opinion is a big negative about this site.

That’s my one gripe tonight as I am still getting used to all the functions here.

Good night all!

M-I-C…See You At Disneyland!

mickeyWell folks, don’t ask me what I am thinking, because I’m obviously not!  ;-P

Who knew that when I embarked on my Miami run last September that I would be sitting here, a year later, running another event?  Life is funny, isn’t it?

Looking back, I remember going to the SFAF (San Francisco AIDS Foundation) training information session and registering right on the spot because I knew that if I left that evening without doing so, I wouldn’t find the courage to do it later.  I also remember leaving that evening wondering how long I would last before I dropped out and telling myself I’d last maybe a month.  LOL!!

A New Beginning

Hello, everyone!

Welcome to my new home! :-)

I got tired of eblogger’s limitations and all the downtimes on that site, so I’ve now moved here.  I love the crisp, new look of this template, don’t you?

There are more changes to come!  WordPress allows more ways to personalize the site, so stay tuned!
