8 Miles

No, this isn’t a post about Eminem. It’s about my run. 

My training today consisted of 8 miles through Golden Gate Park.  I feel refreshed and a bit eager for the actual event!  No real aches this time around, but ask me again tomorrow and I may have another story to tell!

Today we started an hour earlier due to other events the staff was involved with this weekend.  Instead of the usual 7AM wake up, I was up by 6AM!  That’s crazy, but if it wasn’t for my carpool partner keeping me accountable, I’d probably sleep in every Saturday.

What I’m finding this time around is that I am lacking a real commitment and enthusiasm for the event.  Last week I ran two maintenance runs.  One 3-mile run, and the other, a really poor attempt consisting of a half-hearted 2 mile run, which ended up being more of a walk.  Last year I was so committed.  Don’t get me wrong.  I often had to drag myself to the gym after a long day at work, but I was fairly consistent with my weekday workouts.  This time around I just don’t really bother pushing myself to workout during the week.  I figure I’d just walk the event if I had to.  This attitude was unthinkable last time!
