I will say, it took me over 10 years after college to get into the career I wanted. It takes time sometimes. What finally did it for me was getting laid off from a job and taking stock. I realized I enjoyed two things, music and computers. I didn’t think a career in the former was workable, so I chose the latter. Don’t think about money. That’s the trap. What do you really enjoy doing? What makes you want to work at it all day without a break and then make you want to go at it again as soon as you get up the next day?

Do that for a living. You’ll be much happier and sucess will come.

As for your current job, I’d start looking. Any boss that gives an ultimatum like that is looking for documentation to get rid of you. And having a “break” between jobs isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I’ve had a few of those and unless you’re taking your break on a severance package, it sucks.
